Position Summary

This is a strategic position requiring good cross-functional knowledge in transportation, distribution and freight negotiations; Company’s focus is continuous improvement and needs proactive individuals who want to be contributors.

As a logistics manager the company will rely upon you to manage and coordinate the transportation of materials throughout the entire company’s supply chain. Including inbound material primarily from Asian suppliers and managing distribution center functions to support operations for:

  1. Repair/manufacturing operations;
  2. Outbound shipments
  3. Reverse logistics;
  4. Supply chain consulting


Key Responsibilities:

  • In Depth comprehension of Supply Chain Strategy, Models and Innovations in multiple commodity sectors preferred 
  • Knowledge of Customs/import/export compliance
  • Extensive Logistics/Transportation knowledge; National logistics knowledge preferred
  • Innovative solution development and problem solving. Successfully adaptable to fluid situations when necessary
  • Inventory management and planning
  • Smooth flow of materials throughout company’s distribution center(s)
  • Manage inbound freight from Asia and outbound shipments from distribution center(s) to customers
  • Ability to lead and manage projects that drive efficiencies in service and customer experience
  • Strong strategic focus with vision, results oriented
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities able to motivate and develop people; team builder
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, ability to work autonomously and in a team environment, ability to influence others not under direct control
  • Resolve disputes, coach and encourage staff, promote a team environment
  • Must be able to deal effectively and tactfully with customer and employees in a fast-paced work environment
  • Develop and track freight budget and report variances
  • Accurate billing of freight and accessorial charges
  • Distribution center expansions and space planning
  • Solid knowledge of domestic and international carrier operations, pricing, market trends, shipment routing, and distribution methods.
  • Enforce safety policy and all other applicable company policies.
  • Review or maintain productivity and quality data for the department; promote quality and raise awareness of the Company’s QMS
  • Interpret company policies and procedures; project and establish Company’s work ethic and culture with a positive leader approach
  • Identify and communicate quality failures and train employees to prevent recurrences;
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics or Business preferred. Previous logistics experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years experience in warehousing, logistics and transportation negotiations
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel and MS Word
  • Experience managing inbound overseas/international freight
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and highly organized
  • This person needs both Domestic and International experience.
  • This position will supervise warehouse activities within a fast paced environment
  • Current experience working with SAP or other MRP/ERP systems.
  • On rare occasions may be required to work weekends and holidays


Required Travel: 10%-15%
